Pure Algae is attending this years UK’s Seaweed conference 2026!
We are happy to announce that Pure Algae is attending this years UK's Seaweed Conference 2026.
The UK’s Seaweed conference is a conference that brings experts together to discuss industry development and foster a cooperation across the entire seaweed chain. This year, the theme is “History, Culture and Development” that focuses on historical relationships within the sector and wider landscape. The conference is being held in Oban, Scottland, and if you’re interested in learning more about the conference, you can go to their website here.
At the conference, Pure Algae will be talking in the “Innovations in Seaweed” section of the program. Pure Algaes Founder, Esben Christiansen, will be showing and talking about our PUREHATCH Nursery Unit. Here you can gain insight into how land-based seaweed cultivation and seedling quality can be optimized compared to offshore cultivation, together with our latest update to the PUREHATCH Nursery Unit. We look forward to the conference and gain insight in other developments and create new connections across the seaweed industry!
New PUREHATCH Nursery design:
We are getting ready to launch our new and improved design for the PUREHATCH Nursery Unit.
The Nursery Unit is a Pure Algae patented technology that optimizes early-stage growth of seaweed on seeded substrates. It’s a great way to ensure uniform and robust seedling production, which creates greater planting efficiency and higher harvest yields.
The primary improvement to the PUREHATCH Nursery Unit, is an optimization of the rotating cultivation spools. Usually, the twine used for seaweed cultivation and seeding gets twisted, turned and moved around to try and improve yield and quality of seedlings and growth. Our Nursery Unit takes this into account by using a vertical spool of twine to optimize length of the twine without compromising on seedlings quality. The PUREHATCH Nursery Unit normally uses 1,5km spool that are powered by airflow, to rotate 360 degrees that ensure evenly distribution of light and nutrients, which in return improve the quality of the seedlings.
Our previous design used spools with 1,5km substrate, whereas the new and improved design now contains 2km in the spools, for even better functionality and space for seedlings and cultivation to take place.
Pure Algae Milestones
Pure Algae has reached two new milestones!
Our newest milestone is in product shipping distance, where we have set our personal record in distance, from shipping our products all the way to Japan now. We are very excited about this milestone!
Our other milestone we are proud of, is in the development of our biomass sensor. Our development in the sensors has progressed greatly and now has 90-95% accuracy on live biomass data for Ulva. We are also working on adjusting the sensor for Palmaria to ensure the development of our biomass sensor will be useable on a large variety of seaweed species!
Our Incubator Unit Giveaway is still ongoing!
Nordic Seaweed Conference is over, and we are so excited about all the engagement and networking we’ve experienced at the conference! The week offered a big variety of things to learn and see, from research to industry and everything in between.
The inspiring presentations, networking and tasting seaweed-based foods at Kattegatcenteret was a true insight in our fellow seaweed-heads from the industry. The guided tour of our seaweed farming facility went great, and we got to show off our innovative technologies, including our newest VALUEFARM Tower and our final biomass monitoring sensors.
We thank everyone who was curious and showed interest in our technologies.
We are ecstatic about seeing how many have shown interest in Pure Algae and in our giveaway of an Incubator Unit – a compact, plug-n-play photobioreactor with integrated light and aeration. If you haven’t already participated, join the giveaway here! If we reach the goal of surpassing 200 entries, we are giving away a second incubator unit to a lucky participant.
