A compact 48 L gametophyte laboratory setup can potentially produce enough biomass to seed more than 13 km of kelp cultivation line every three weeks. Based on SMART TANG experiments conducted at Aarhus University, the results demonstrate how small-scale hatchery systems can support large-scale kelp farming operations through efficient gametophyte production.
